Divorce hotels coming to the UK

A brand new hotel concept recently appeared in the Netherlands: hotels where couples getting divorced can stay during their weekend in order to take care of all their paperwork and have mediation talks with their lawyers.

Jim Halfens, the "Divorce hotels" entrepreneur, has created these hotels so that couples could finalize all they have to do in a neutral and "quiet" place where they have nothing to care about except their divorce. Couples sleep in separate rooms and a suite is used for mediation talks. Thus, they will be more able to think about their case without getting disturbed or distracted by other things which could occur in your everyday life and, above all, have proper discussions together with their lawyer.

Jim Halfens actually plans to develop this hotel chain worldwide and is now starting getting the idea to the UK while negotiating with other establishment in several big cities such as New York or Los Angeles. A reality show could even maybe be filmed in one of his establishment, emphasizing his new concept.

However, his original hospitality concept turns out to be rather controversial and some people sound to disagree about the real utility of this business especially because of the fact that couples getting divorced are usually not willing to see each other again except when they really have to. Trendy or luxury hotels do not seem to be the appropriate places to meet and relax on this occasion.

In my opinion, I think this concept could be good and quite convenient to try for many couples find it difficult to meet and finally do all their divorce paperwork when things go bad... The fact to be all together with their lawyers can perhaps make things go a little faster than usual...
Nevertheless, you must not expect a relaxing and great week-end if you go to these kinds of places! The concept is not really fun...
